The picture pretty well speaks for itself. This is the best
chili dog I have ever eaten. It was so scrumptious that I
was planning on walking over to Hua Mum Market about four nights
a week for a late evening bite. After about two trips I decided
to try his spare ribs, and found that also uniquely delectable.
On about my fourth trip I decided to try his cheeseburger, and
was once again surprised at just how delicious it was,
undoubtedly the best hamburger I had ever eaten anywhere. And it
wasn't just the toppings, the meat itself really stood out as
the best I had ever tasted. I'm sure he started with the best
source possible, and I'm not sure where or how he did that, but
then he ground jerky into his meat. That put his simple
hamburger over the top.
His name is On, he is Thai, but he spent quite a few years in
northern Europe. He and his brother returned to Bangkok after
his grandmother died and left them her house. He was doing quite
a successful business with his food truck at the market in Muang
Thong Thani, but because of the long drive from Nawamin, began
going to the Hua Mum Market several nights a week. That is until
he returned to Finland to renew his passport. The last I heard,
he had decided to stay and work in Finland to raise money to
start a franchise of restaurants here in Bangkok. It's been
about a year and I seem to have lost contact with him, but watch
for him to reappear on the Thai landscape. The name of the his
food truck was "Holey Smokey" (not to be confused with "Holey
Smokes" restaurants.) The chili dog came in at about 110 baht
($3.20,) the cheeseburger at about 150 baht ($4.36)) (next dish)
