Touring Milford Sound in a Sail Ship April 2, 2012 f/5.6

The now very popular Milford Sound
wasn't discovered until 1812 when Captain John Grono, a sealer, sought
refuge from a storm. The famous explorer, Captain Cook, sailed right past its obscure
entrance (pictured above) three times. Though dubbed "Milford Sound"
it technically isn't a "sound" at all, but a "fiord". Sounds are
created by the sea, fiords are created by glaciers, and are deeper and
more narrow.
