An assortment of pine cones fallen neatly beneath the tree, some recently fallen, some fallen years ago.

Precisely as They Have Fallen

I photographed the accumulation of these pine cones precisely as they had fallen underneath their mother. One of the beauties of this image is that the cones are not all the same color, but vary in their distinct shades of brown. The large cone to the bottom left looks as if it could have fallen today, while the dark one near the center top looks as if it could have fallen years ago, the oldest member of the family.
