If you are reading this on your cell phone you can probably double tap this box and it will fill your screen from side to side, which will make it easier to read. You can double tap again to zoom back out. The same is true of any of my photos.

This young moose fed busily on the grasses in this opening, while his mother bedded down nearby for a quiet, comfortable rest. He started on one side of her, worked his way down to the opposite side, and then back up to his orginal position. Then something interesting happened. As a friend of mine photographed down close on the ground in front of me, the calf began moving away from the mother toward our immediate left until, with the mother close by monitoring the whole process, he was precariously close. Then the young one started crying for his mother. I believe he had become disoriented and had lost track of where she was. My friend believes he may have been asking about these strange humans, or he may have been asking mom to take him exploring in this direction. Having already captured some very good frames, my colleague did feel uncomfortably close and crept away. Mother didn't seem too alarmed though, as her calf let out several calls before she calmly responded with her own much deeper voice.
