| This ancient wood carving is huge, towering above me as I point my camera upward at it. "Komokuten" means "Wide-Eyed" or "Expansive Vision" and as one of four dieties that protect the four directions, he watches over the western quarter of the Buddhist alter in the Tojai-ji temple in Nara. |
