Silent Nature and A. J. Windless

An impressive snow photo that looks more like an oriental painting than a photograph as snow covers the ground, plasters the trees, and whitens the sky.

Skyline

A skyline that seems only defined by the trees that persist to stand there against the storm. Everyone seems to feel this picture looks more like a painting than a photograph, but most are confused as to how I created this image. I didn't do anything but capture the image as it was in real life. Nature created this composition with snow on the ground, snow stuck to the trees, and white snow clouds just behind the trees (I'm standing at 8,000 feet in elevation.) In fact, in earlier frames the sky was completely white, but I felt the composition would be more interesting with a tint of color in the background, so I waited for just the right shades of color to drift by.  ( Nov. 16, 1991   Film: Fujichrome 50 )
