Shots Not Heard
by A. J. Windless
I will do a tiptoe,
Shoot a flamingo,
I will shoot a big fat hippo.
Shoot a sprinting cheetah,
Shoot a squinting zebra,
I will shoot a rare white rhino.
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Preserving Nature’s touch.
I will shoot the arctic fox,
Sitting on the hard rocks,
While he’s scouting out the swan flocks.
Shoot the baby panda,
Shoot the cuddly koala,
I will shoot the waddling penguin.
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Preserving Nature’s touch.
I am going to shoot this deer,
But I will leave him still standing here.
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Preserving Nature’s touch.
I can shoot the grizzly bear,
If I say my morning prayer,
Then I’ll need to change my underwear.
From this spreading cypress,
Shoot this striking tigress,
Leading cubs that continually digress.
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Preserving nature’s touch.
I can shoot the endangered loon,
I can even shoot the moon.
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Pursuing nature’s touch.
Shoot the bumbling bees,
Shoot the tumbling seas,
I can shoot the pretty girls.
Shoot the sunrise skies,
Shoot the butterflies,
I can even shoot myself!
With my camera,
Firing shots not heard,
Preserving this sacred touch.
Everything’s so still,
I’m filled with a quiet thrill,
If I could just instill
This feel into my life.
Firing shots not heard,
Firing shots not heard,
Just me and my camera.
