This song is a tribute to Saman “Sam” Gunan, the navy seal who
gave his life while scuba diving oxygen tanks into the flooded
cave where 12 Thai boys, their soccer coach, and many rescue
workers desperately needed the air. The song is written from the
perspective of a boy who is telling him he will hang on, that he
will make it, that Sam's sacrifice will not be in vain. Sam gave
his life, but perhaps he left his blessing on all the survivors,
as there were no additional deaths in the miraculous rescue
effort. Against chilling odds, all of the boys, their coach, and
the remaining divers emerged from the cave alive. |
